Another weekend down…another busy–busy–busy week!

Hello all! Another busy weekend and a crazy busy week ahead of us. Tornado is still feeling a little under the weather. He finally slept all night last night though which means momma got to sleep after nine days of being up. Well, this weekend we went to the IX-Center Lego KidsFest. The kids had an awesome time. Tornado had a couple melt downs, but Lego Man was, of course, all about the legos. Here are a few pics:

We also had our first dress rehearsal for “A Very Merry Who-ville Christmas”. It went okay. The first one is always rough. Didn’t take any pics since I was helping with costumes and the sort. Today, we just hung out and cleaned. Thank goodness for a day of rest because the rest of the week is going to be a whirlwind. Here’s our lovely schedule:

Monday — Lego Man has Dr. Appt @ 4pm / Mom has school meeting at 6 pm / Lego Man has scouts at 7pm
Tuesday — Tornado and Lego Man have 2nd dress rehearsal at 5:30 pm
Wednesday — Lego Man has chess tournament at 4:00 pm
Thursday — Tornado and Lego Man has their last rehearsal but we cannot go because Lego Man has his school choir concert.
Friday — Tornado and Lego Man’s first performance begins at 6:00 pm
Saturday — Tornado and Lego Man’s second performance begins at 2:00 pm (I really want to do the turkey bowling at the local Rec Center but don’t think we will have enough time)
Sunday — hopefully a resting day.

Of course in all of that I have to organize a cookie/dessert reception for the performances. I just don’t know how to say NO I guess so it is my fault. Though I may be handing off the responsibility to someone else come tomorrow. This person has done it before so she knows what she is doing. I’ve never done it so we will see how this goes.

Well I hope all of you have a great week. I am hoping to keep blogging every other day, but with the above schedule I’m not sure that will be possible.

Take Care!!!

The sickies have entered our house yet again…

Soooooo….we had a good but busy week last week and we had a lot of fun for Halloween and trick-or-treating. I however have been missing-in-action due to illnesses and lack of sleep. Tornado had been coughing a little bit Thursday and Friday. Not surprising as most kids in his classroom had been coughing. By Saturday early afternoon he was worse so off the the pediatrician we go so as to stop croup before it progressed. Tornado got some prednisone and away we went. Two days were prescribed so that is what we did. He seemed to be getting better. Sunday was our trick-or-treating. It had been nice but by the time it was over the air had turned extremely cold. The crispness didn’t do Tornado any favors. Yesterday he was coughing so bad his little face was a bright red and he was exhausted from coughing. Off to the ER we went. They did two separate breathing treatments. One was an albuterol dosage and the other they had said it was like the meds in an epi pen to help reduce the swelling of the airways. It seemed to work a little bit. They did a chest x-ray just to rule out pneumonia. Of court Tornado talked the tech into letting him see the x-ray before sending it off to the doctor. “Mom, I’m a skeleton” lol! So they put him back on the steroid and upped the dosage. Also had me doing nebulizer as needed. Well, he was doing better today. Tonight he has had a few episodes of coughing so we will see how he is feeling in the morning. I am so over the sickies in this house for a couple months. I’m tired!

Well, I really do need to get to bed. Will post more tomorrow after work with pics from over the weekend. Lego Man used to cough non-stop for a month at a time with no relief. Come back tomorrow to hear the success we have had to prevent putting Lego Man on asthma meds that never worked anyway. I am very happy with his results and will be starting Tornado with the same thing hopefully starting next week. I would like to have a winter season where they are not getting sick every other week.

Until then, goodnight!!!

Weekend here we come!!! FINALLY

This week was a very busy and grueling week especially since we had a fun filled busy weekend last weekend. My niece’s 4th Birthday / Halloween party was last Saturday. They even had a haunted ride through the forest. Here is a pic of the Birthday ghoul – – I mean girl.

I honestly forget what we did Sunday, but it was a blur.

Monday we had Lego Man’s annual Cub Scout Halloween party. We had a great time and got lots of candy and played lots of games. It is my only chance to dress up so of course I made my husband dress up as well. I only wish other parents had dressed up as well. Here’s a few pics of the festivities and of our costumes.

So, now on to Tuesday! Lego Man had play practice. He is involved in a theatre troupe through our county library and has been in seven plays before the one he is in now. He has been a member for four years and has done two plays each year. Tornado is also in this play and he has done one before. Our schedule from this week forward is going to be a crazy as we begin costume checks and run throughs and then our performances for two weekends in a row. Then, it will be “Turkey Time”! Here are a few pictures of past performances.

For this holiday play, we are doing “A Very Merry Who-ville Christmas”. Tornado is a little boy “Who” and Lego Man is “Dash Herb”- a father of 4 girls and a defiant boy (hehehehe). Can’t wait to see the final product of all of their hard work. Stay tuned for pics of their performance. I am off to get ready for practice tomorrow and trick-or-treating on Sunday.

Let the weekend begin!!!

Why does the weekend have to be so short?!

For some reason this weekend just FLEW by. Woke up this morning and realized it was already Sunday. I wondered where the weekend went. I think we may have skipped Friday and Saturday. I really can’t remember what we did on Friday. Saturday was a whirlwind though. Had a cake and cupcakes to bake and decorate as well as some good crockpot stew. My great niece A turned 4 years old and we were going to celebrate her Birthday. It was a great time and apparently I made some good stew and cupcakes because I didn’t take any home. The kids had a great time running and playing, breaking the pinata, cooking hotdogs over the fire, bobbing for apples and going on a “haunted” hay ride. I got to visit with the newest members of our family. It was a lot of fun.

I originally stated I would share some recipes for all to share. Here is the recipe for the crock pot stew. (I’m thinking I need a bigger crock pot).

Layer ingredients in this order: 2-3 carrots cut in half then in 1″ size pieces, 4-5 stalks of celery cut in 1″ sized pieces, 4-5 potatoes peeled and cubed, 2 cloves crushed garlic, 1 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp thyme, 1/2 tsp basil, 1-1/2 tblsp. worcester sauce, 2 lbs stew meat (dredge in flour before placing in crockpot), 1 can diced tomatoes with juice, 2 cups beef broth. Cook on low 8-10 hours or high 4-6 hours. Enjoy!!!

Hope to see you all tomorrow and I am just hoping the week goes by as fast as the weekend!

Meet the hubby!!!

Meet the hubby, Paul!  The one that gave the adrenaline junkie genes to our youngest child.  He is a skydiver, drag strip junkie, and loves to go fast!  He owns a 1968 Ford Mustang that he and his dad purchased when Paul was 16 or 17 years old.  This is the car that he takes to the drag strip.  He used to have a 1995 Mustang that he also took to the track.  I guess working on two cars got to be too expensive which is why he sold the 1995 and focused on the 68.  It has been down for a couple years.  It seemed as though something was always breaking.  I think it just got too frustrating.

When we first met (blind date that I knew nothing about) I thought for sure he was going to kill himself  jumping from a plane.  I tried to fix him up with one of my friends.  After about six months though he grew on me and we had our first date January 20, 1995.  We got married March 11, 2000.  Luke arrived August 26, 2002 and Trent arrived June 27, 2006.  Yes I live with soooo much testosterone.  Some times it takes its toll and I have to just get away for a few hours.  Crazy men peeing on seats, passing gas, wrestling, and being loud.  But I wouldn’t have it any other way (for the most part).

Thank you for stopping by for my latest installment of a glimpse into my family.  Have a great weekend and stay tuned for another post in the next couple days!

Meet “The Tornado”

Here is our little man whom we nicknamed Tornado.  Sooooo our reasoning for the name?  He is full of energy and leaves a path wherever he has been.  Our tornado loves Halloween, dirt, trains, and monster trucks among other things.  He is in kindergarten and for the time being he loves school and loves his teacher.

Little man makes me smile every day with his antics and things he says.  He is such an inspiration as he looks at life full of wonderment and excitement.  When he grows up he wants to be. . . a shark photographer (diving in the cages), a monster truck driver, a race car driver, and a train conductor.  He is definitely an adrenaline junkie (just like his dad)!!!

Thank you for coming back as I introduce you to our family.  Tomorrow, you will meet my husband and hear how we met.  See you tomorrow!

Meet Lego Man

This is Lego Man and my oldest son.  He is 9 years old and absolutely loves legos.  He loves a lot of things, but Legos are #1 in his book.  He currently is in 4th grade and is doing well in school.  He loves to read and perform.  He is currently involved with a local theatre troupe for children aged 5 to 14.  We have upcoming performances in November which we are all excited about.  He has been involved in theatre since he was 5 years old and they do two plays a year.  One in the spring and one right before Thanksgiving.  He has been a cowboy, a Samuri, a cat, a pumpkin, a mummy, Robin (as in Batman and Robin), and now Mr. Dash Herb in a Very Merry Whoville Christmas.

He is involved in Cub Scouts as well and loves to play video games.  He once said he wanted to be a video game programmer.  I always tell him he can do anything he puts his mind to.  He has also said he wants to go to Yale University.  I have no doubt that if he really wants to go he can make that happen.  He amazes me every day with his wit and charm, his compassion and empathy for those around him.  He is my observer and thinker.  He is Lego Man!!!

Thank you for coming back and learning a little more about my family!

The Nadeau Nest is Alive!

This is my very first post as a blogger so I thought it fitting to welcome all of you and to let you know some things about this blog.  It took a long time to come up with the name, but think this is fitting for our family.  I would like you to take this journey with me into this fabulous world of blogging.  I am hoping to share with you the ins and outs of our family as well as what works for us.  I will be posting recipes for those that need a quick dinner idea as well as ideas to help make your family life easier.  I may crash at some things, but I always pick myself back up, dust myself off, and learn from the experience.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will follow me along this journey of  The Nadeau Nest!!!

Here is a picture of my family on vacation April of 2011.  My hubby Paul and our two sons “Lego Man” and “Tornado”!  Stay tuned for more about the names 🙂
